I arrived here from the comments section of MCM where your comment - naming David Amram as
your friend - made me curious about your substack. You know, always looking for kindred people...
Wow!! I just loved this so much. Exciting and beautiful and what a tribute! I was dancing. Earlier today I was looking into traveling down to New Orleans in August from northern Cali. Wondering if I could withstand the heat/humidity... Yes, what terrific stuff you've made with Roger Lewis and Kirk and everyone. And your voice. Thanks!!
Dear YVONNE, Wow--thanks very much for these warm remarks. I'll share them with ROGER, KIRK, DON and HERMAN--and with ALEXEY MARTI (Congas, Cajon). What I'm finding more and more is that L-O-V-E is that main ingredient for a performance that enlivens its subject and reaches folks. 'Marsha's' is doing real well among responses from the 3100 Jazz programmers reached by the PlayMPE service. #4 among Streams last Week ending June 8 ("Carrying The Saxophones" is #12) and #3 for the June 9 Day.
Very, very gratifying to know that one's work reaches strangers!
Come on down in August. New Orleans in that month is a shock to someone coming from northern California ... but I'm sure you'll handle the heat/humidty and find a lot to love among people here!
