Rivers Answer Moons' new music from Dockside Studio + Listening-Party!
The band is joined by LOUIS and ANDRE MICHOT
Well, the past two weeks I’ve been Slack unto Remiss as a Substack writer.
Gosh, the ‘SHOCKING!’ Scandals and the ‘BOMBSHELL’ Videos that I’ve missed. More than we can count.
Instead, main focus has been on the Rivers Answer Moons band and Tracks to complete our LOUISIANA STORIES Album and Stage-Show.
We—the superlative musicians ROGER LEWIS and KIRK JOSEPH and DON VAPPIE and new member ALEXEY MARTI—went over to Dockside Studio in Louisiana’s Acadiana for all-day sessions on July 30 and 31. We were joined the second day by LOUIS MICHOT and ANDRE MICHOT, co-founders of the Lost Bayou Ramblers and beautiful musicians, too.
So, all told, we had for Tracks: SAXOPHONES (ROGER) and SOUSAPHONE (KIRK) and BANJO/GUITAR (DON V.) and CONGAS/CAJON (ALEXEY) along with FIDDLE (LOUIS) and ACCORDION (ANDRE).

A recording-studio can for me be like Heaven. With musicians such as these, well, we had angels who could sing as well as play. Roger and Kirk, Louis and André, each have a Grammy since 2023. Don is 2022 winner of the Steve Martin Banjo Prize. Alexey is a giant of rhythm and overall musicality. Dockside goes back to Gatemouth Brown and B. B. King and has itself 21 Grammies. Justin Tocket and Cezanne and Steve Nails there could not have been more accomplished and accomplishing and simpatico!
Tomorrow, Friday, August 9, we’re having a Listening-Party in New Orleans. Our host is a great friend to Sticking Up For Children and to the 25 visual-artists whom she represents and to her public of more than 1000, ANGELA KING.
The Listening-Party is in the upstairs EVOLVE space of Angela’s Gallery at 241 Royal in the French Quarter. It runs from 7:00 to 9:00 and there will be superb wine from Frey Vineyards and good things to eat from the truly Good Catch Thai restaurant.
Let me leave you with excerpts from four of the Tracks that we recorded or expanded at Dockside. I hope that you dig them!
Also, you can check out, if you like, all NINE excerpts from DPRAM Tracks of 2024 for our LOUISIANA STORIES Album and Stage-Show over on the Sticking Up For Children website HERE.
"Louisiana Days, Louisiana Nights (Freedom Here)", opening
"The Bands Are Bringing Everyone Home", opening
