Rivers Answer Moons: Marigny Opera House and Tracks Again in Top-20
Thanks for ears in New Orleans and across North America and Europe
(An email of THANKS to Friends in New Orleans, North America, and Europe for supporting Rivers Answer Moons and Sticking Up For Children.)
June 13, 2024
Hello, Friends,
’Twas a great week for Rivers Answer Moons and Sticking Up For Children. (Thanks always to Cyril and Gaynielle Neville for the concept, intention and name Sticking Up For Children.)
Rivers Answer Moonss played the Marigny Opera House in New Orleans on Wednesday night, June 5. Light in the place was splendid and the company was perfect. We did, oh, eight or nine poems and songs. How warmly the audience responded--a to-the-roots New Orleans' audience. Everything concluded with Roger, Kirk, Herman, and Don Vappie second-lining out of the M.O.H. and that musicians/audience separation disappearing with dancing in the street.
Please see one photo by our friend Ryan Hodgson-Rigbee and one by friend and videographer Keith Hill for a sense of the night.

On Sunday Maryse and I learned that ‘Marsha’s’ and “Carrying The Saxophones” both reached the Top 20 on PlayMPE’s Chart of Streams and Downloads from 3100+ Radio-Stations and other Media in North America and Europe. ‘Marsha’s’ was #4 and “Carrying The Saxophones” #12 in Streams for the Week ending June 8 . Next day, ‘Marsha’s’ had risen to #3 in Streams.
Very, very gratifying to know that strangers, out there in many places, like what we’re doing. Alexey Marti, I should add, is our guest on Congas and Cajon in ‘Marsha’s.’ Here's a LINK to listening to the Tracks through the very helpful PlayMPE service.
Pieces about their creation are up our Sticking Up For Children website.

In Haiti, our Partners in Port-au-Prince and Cayes Jacmel progress despite shortages. Mme. Marie Yolene Desiral in the village of Cayes Jacmel has used our latest SUFC funding to aid her 16 CONTINUING adult students and construct a bigger blackboard. Mme. Marie Marthe Balin Franck Paul and her stalwart Staff in Port-au-Prince have resumed College Canapé Vert with … 467 STUDENTS in their CCV uniforms and a Talent-Show--with dancers!--for the Haitian Flag Day celebration on May 18.
We'll have photos and videos from Haiti up soon on the website.
Thank YOU again! Cheers and the very best,
DON
